John (Meldon) - 1813 - 1862 - Rough Draft of Abstract of Mortgage and subsequent assignments on extensive properties & lands in Walton le Dale, Lancs. Mentions acquisition of lands by Richard Calrow from Wm. Assheton in 1813, Richard's Will & death in 1830and an agreement between his sons Thomas Calrow & William Calrow in 1831. In 1845 William Calrow mortgaged the properties to Rev. Christ.r. Bird (Chollerton, Northumberland) and Rev. Jno. Shepherd Birley (Halliwell Hall, Lancs.) for £10,000 gives very extensive lists of the properties and lands mortgaged, giving names of the mansion, houses, cottages and closes and fields with acreages; also names occupiers / tenants and in some cases from whom acquired. In 1858 the mortgage was assigned by Bird & Birley to Rev. James North (Liverpool) and in 1862 by North to Rev. Edward Pedder (Lancaster), Rev. John Pedder (Meldon, Northumberland) & Rev. 259/42 Clutterbuck, Thomas - Warkworth - 1872 - Sale of 2 plots of land belonging to Thomas Parr (Letcomb Regis, Berks.) byCharles Smith (High Holborn, Middx), a Mortgagee of the lands, to Francis Fernando Bullock (Wantage). Refers to the acquisition of the lands (amongst others) by Parr in 1862, the 1863 Mortgage of the lands to John Cann and assignment of part of the Mortgage by Cann, and the repayment of the bulk of that part of the original Mortgage, with the part outstanding being assigned in 1871 to Edwin Newman (Yeovil, Somerset). As a result of various assignments, the balance of the original Mortgage was owed to John Goodden (Over Compton, Dorset). Additional Mortgages were advanced by Thomas Clutterbuck (Warkworth) and Charles Smith, both in 1869, Smith having Power of Sale - which he exercised by selling part of the lands to Bullock.
